"Catholic Education in Sandhurst has been gifted with the professional partnership developed with a3 through the Australian School of Performing Arts. The growth in the performance culture for our students, teachers and system has been incredible. We are delighted to have found another avenue to build on our substantial partnership with the commissioning of 'Open the Doors' in this Year of Mercy. We couldn't think of a better expression of all that is sacred and that will engage our children and teachers."
Phil Bretherton, Assistant to the Director, Catholic Education Office Sandhurst

Commissioned by the Sandhurst Catholic Education Office for use in their diocesan performing arts program in 2016, this song is simple and effective. Composer, Mark Puddy, is well known in Australia for his ability to write and arrange music that students of all abilities can sing confidently, and that audiences find entertaining. 'First World War Centenary' Resource:

The 4th of August 2014 marked the centenary of the commencement of the First World War. a3 has commissioned an original choral composition by Mark Puddy, ‘Here You Lie (Side by Side)’, which has been in part inspired by the words of M. Kemal Ataturk (Founder of the Turkish Republic in 1923) which are on the ANZAC Memorial at Gallipoli.

The song has been written and arranged for schools and choirs to perform at commemorative events scheduled through until Remembrance Day 2018. It is our hope that through this song, school aged children will engage with stories and themes from the First World War via music and the related literature and educational activities.
